Does anyone know how you qualify for the 'amica fare' on trenitlia? Is it for 2 people traveling together? I have scoured the website and cannot find the information that I am looking for.

If I remember correctly, we used the Amica fare for a single ticket and the buy one get one specials for two tickets... On the Trenitalia website, put in a seach for a train and then select English on the next page (English used to be on the main page but I can't find it anymore - maybe someone else has some pointers). Anyway, there is a promotion section that describes the discounted fares. You might have to sort through everything, but usually you can find what you are looking for. We booked the discounted fares in Italy last September 3 days before departure - just don't try to get it on the same day.
