I was always under the impression from what I’ve seen on forum posts before that you didn’t need to purchase regional trains in advance. Well, when I was going to buy my ticket from Palermo to Cefalu last night I saw that the first train out was SOLD OUT! I couldn’t believe it.
I showed up to the station a little early hoping that I could buy one off the machine but I got the same message. I saw the train and noticed there were only a few cars so it made sense why it would sell out.
At the end of the day, it wasn’t the end of the world for me as I’m going for the day only. Just wanted to give people a heads up that some regional trains do sell out. Happy travels!
