Trenitalia June 12 schedule change question

Hi, We are trying to book tickets from Milan Centrale to Monterosso on June 15th. Tickets still not showing up at all for those dates. I have seen some chatter about the June 12th schedule change....which makes sense because I can see tickets for this route for the prior week....have been seeing those for about a month. I guess my question - are tickets for the 15th really not going to be available til the 12th???? Thanks for any help...

They will come out before that, but how soon, I can't say. Its a negotiation.

They load the high speed itineraries first, followed by the IC trains and lastly the regional trains. Since that route is mostly covered by IC and regional trains you won't see the new schedules much before the beginning of June. You can keep checking the site for updates but don't expect them for another few weeks.

There is no discount for buying Regionale tickets on-line. In fact, you should NOT buy Regionale tickets on-line because of the additional restrictions for on-line purchases. Second, ICs can be discounted if purchased on-line but the discount is fairly small so I would not worry too much if you are unable to purchase in advance. You can easily buy your tickets once you are there. And there will be little schedule change so plan your times based on what you can see now.

Thanks all. I believe it is an IC route...3 hours non stop (as opposed to others that stop in Genova and/or Levanto). It does offer 1st class. Do they actually separate these out on this route? I feel like last time we went...they were selling 1st class tix....but didn't have separate cars to support it?

I believe the IC trains have separate cars for 1st class. The direct (as opposed to nonstop) IC trains are showing at 12:10. 2:05 pm, 4:05 pm on June 8, but still not for June 15. Keep checking periodically.

Don't think they are non-stop as non-stop doesn't exist. The train will be stopping at many stations. It is direct with no changes.

Maybe for you I need to expand on the stopping issue. The trains with the fewest stops between major cities are the high speed train. Obviously, when you make fewer stops the faster you can go. The Intercity (IC) makes many more stops. IC express will make few stops along the IC run. And, of course, the Regionale train makes almost every stop and therefor is the slowest train. As I pointed out in my earlier posting, on your route the Regionale train is only 15 minutes slower than the IC. Is 15 mins faster that critical for you. Taking a Regionale train provides a lot of flexibility. So being fixated on when the schedules might be posted is counterproductive. It makes little difference.

Confused about Frank's reply above. Sometimes a regional train makes sense and takes only slightly longer than a faster train. But in this case, the OP is asking about Milan to Monterosso. The direct IC trains on that route (June 8 for example) take about 3 hours and tix are as little as 9 euro. I don't see any all-regional trains on that route; and the other non-direct combos take 3.5 to 4.5 hours and are 20 - 31 euros. Is there some way that Frank's reply is accurate that I am not seeing?
