We went to the English version of Trenitalia and tried to obtain tickets. The web site requires you to put in your ID and they would send you a password to your E-Mail before you could buy tickets. The password was never sent( bocker was off) and if you retry to obtain a password the site stated the ID was already in use. HELP
Linda...you can try sending an e-mail to webmaster at trenitalia.com asking for help, but they usually take days to respond. They can also take a few days to generate a password and send it off....I think they must check them all over by hand first! The other thing you can try is using another e-mail address (hotmail, Gmail, yahoo mail, etc) and setting up another account with another ID....that may see a password come back to you more quickly this time.
If I were you, I'd try again with a new ID to get a new password. Maybe you can try to have it sent to someone else's email I didn't have a bit of trouble doing mine recently and I am usually the one left frustrated by these things. Keep trying - otherwise try calling the help line.
I had the same problem a few weeks ago, and I tried using 2 different email accounts, and different user IDs. Never did get a password sent. I thought it might be due to using Mozilla rather than Internet Explorer. In any event, it doesn't work for me either. I tried to click the link for "forgot my password", but it does not take you anywhere. I haven't even found a link on their site to send queries.
If you really must reserve in advance, try one of the booking services. You will pay more, but you will have a ticket in hand. Good luck.
I had trouble at first also until I went to yahoo and created an email account there. After that everything went fine. I now have my ticketless ticket in hand and ready to travel.

We had trouble at Trenitalia too. Had good luck and service from Raileurope.com. Paid a delivery fee but we were able to order all trips from one website visit so everything went in one envelope for a one time only fee.
Rail Europe is a travel agency and you will pay a higher price for the tickets plus a delivery fee. It is not worth it. Buy the tickets when you get there.
I use gmail and had no problem. I just went online, booked my ticketless reservation from Venice SL to Florence SMN, got my seat assignments and it worked great. The conductor just comes through the aisle with a Palm Pilot and punches in the ticket number when you show him your reservation printout, real easy.
