Oh only the high speeds are up.. I wonder if I should just book to Florence and get Regionals there? Or if I should wait it out another couple days and see what loads....

Kim,
I would wait a few days to see if your routes load up. I only buy the fast trains in advance because I am sure of my schedule and because of the discount. I do plan on buying regional train tickets once I am in Italy.

good luck!

You should NEVER buy Regionale tickets on line. And, there is no reason to do since there are no discounts and the trains never sell out.

If your trip includes both a freccia or I/C train and a regionale segment, you should be able to book the entire trip wirh one transaction. I did this a few weeks ago.

If you have problems, the telephone agents speak English (mind the six hour time difference).

You don't need to register to use the site. Just choose the non soto registrato under "contact buyer-required" on the page after you've chosen the train you want. This will allow you to purchase without registering.

The trip from Rome to Lucca requires regional trains which is why you cannot book yet. Just purchase the high speed legs and get the regional tickets once in Italy.

Repeat: if your journey includes a regionale segment, you should be able to purchase the entire journey in one transaction. The regionale sgment will only be valid for the day of the fast-train segment(s). I have these tickets in hand for travel from Ravenna to Florence (regionale from Ravenna to Bologna, Freccia from Bologna to Florence).

I never got it to work so I just went to italiarail.

I knew to choose non-registering, but when I did a thing popped up to enter my name and email... then when I continued to the next page it gave an error. This happened both when I included the lucca leg, and when I just did rome-florence. Super frustrating!

Train schedules across most of Europe change on June 15. Traditionally, Italy does not publish summer schedules for regional trains until this annual update actually rolls around. Regional Italian train tickets are cheap, so plan to buy the tickets in a train station there, or it may be possible to buy online within a week of the train travel date.
