Trenitalia e-ticket error

Hi there! I could not find any current discussions on this topic so I started a new one.

I just purchased 2 round trip FRECCE train tickets on the Trenitalia website. Everything was going smoothly until I made the purchase and I received an error notice: "technical reason the email has not been sent, the purchase has been correctly done. To check the details of your purchase, you can access your customer area or contact the call center to verify the status of your travel."

However, I did not register an account as I read that wouldn't be necessary. I have checked all my email inboxes and still have received nothing for a few hours. I have a gmail account. I printed off a summary of the entire purchase page, and printed off a receipt, but I saw no place to print out my ticket PDF anywhere. I have a retrieval code as well as the ticket codes for each ticket printed off-but I am not sure this will be enough to board the train.

I do not have minutes to call customer service, and I am shocked that it is 2018 and there isn't a place to email them for customer service. I know it is the weekend-maybe I need to wait until Monday. I have never had an issue like this with international purchases so I am at a loss. Anyone else have ideas of what I can try to retrieve my ticket?

Thank you so much in advance.

I'm shocked that in 2018 there is still somebody looking for an email instead of using the chat option. Or thinking that e-tickets are something to be actually printed out.

If you have the pnr code with car, seat and train numbers you don't need anything else to board the train. That's your authority to travel.
E-tickets do not need to be printed, you could write the pnr code on the back of your hand and the conductor couldn't care less.

The retrieval code could be used to see via web, save and print the pdf file you did not receive via email.

You don't print off a ticket, you print the receipt which has a PNR number on it. Just take the print outs you have with you and go to the desk to have them print out your ticket.

As you've discovered, the Trenitalia website can sometimes be problematic. For future reference, you might try buying tickets at www.trainline.eu next time. Registration is required on the site first, including payment information, but once that's done it's very user friendly. They have an App as well. Another advantage is that they sell tickets for not only Trenitalia, but also Italo Treno and many other networks across Europe.

A very simple solution - on the Trenitalia website once you have chosen the English flag, click on "Manage your tickets", and then either use the option for I have PNR/ticket code or I did not register. This will display your ticket receipt and in the upper right hand corner you will have the PDF logo, which you can click to open and print the ticket.

I have done it multiple times to print my tickets without ever having registered.

The op has his pnr code, car and seat numbers, he clearly wrote it:

have a retrieval code as well as the ticket codes for each ticket printed off

There is no need to promote re-seller's sites, with no legal obligation to display the complete schedules and/or to offer all discounted fares. I agree that the "manage your ticket" option is the best solution to get the same info in an easy to print pdf file.

Thankyou all for the input on the “manage your ticket” as that worked! I now have my pnr code. And Thankyou jazz+travels for the link to the online chat-for some reason it never came up for me on the site until I used your link!
