I am leaving for Italy in a few weeks, and will usually be using a train between cities, customarily Trenitalia. For the first legs of each travel segment, I purchased a ticket, with assigned seat, online, going for the upgrade per RS. When doing so, I provided all information required including my email address and the backup email address. Although about two weeks have passed, I have not received my etickets by email. My purchases show up on the railway's log, and the proper amounts have been debited. I can't quite figure out how to reach Trenitalia - the complaint process seems not quite appropriate, besides which it is cumbersome - but I don't want to have wasted my money. It appears the website says the eticket will come by email; is that correct? If they come by email, how long does it take? What is the easiest way for an English-speaking customer to contact them? What do I do now? Thanks for any assistance.
Ricks, did you get any email of any kind from Trenitalia. You should have received an email from Trenitalia within a minute of when you made your purchase. If yes, what did you receive? If you have a document that has a 6-digit PNR code, that's your ticket. You need nothing else. If you did receive a different document, it may have a retrieval code on it. If you don't have the tickets, there is a selection on the Trenitalia website to assist in getting the tickets. Did you register as a user or did you make your purchase without registering? We recommend registering. Go to www.trenitalia.com. Click on the Customer Area on the right. Click on Log-In and a new window should come up. On the right side of the page, you will see "Purchases without registering" and "Retrieve purchase". Perhaps working with these selections will help.
Ricks, have you checked your spam folder? You registered with Trenitalia website? Log in and print out the code page. The email usually arrives within seconds of the purchase completion. Logging in is the best bet.
Larry and Nigel, by fumbling around with a bit more determination, I finally found how to get the tickets. Because you were both gracious, let me respond to questions in case it helps anyone else. I did register when I purchased and I have logged in several times, but none of the choices in the Action drop down fit my problem. With Larry's indirect encouragement, having logged in yet again I started clicking on everything in front of me. Unlike my son, I am less computer literate. When I clicked on what I guess is a PDF file associated with each ticket, downloading sounded like a good choice to me, so I did. I then found and printed out each ticket, each of which has a bar code of sorts and a PNR. I think I am good to go. I didn't think to check my Spam file, but there is nothing there either. Nonetheless, I believe I am ready for at least the train travel - let's see, yellow poster is departures and white is arrivals - and I could not have done it without you. Now if only I could figure out the regionals and locals, and Circumvesuviana, I'd be all set. However, as my son says from time to time, I need to be more spontaneous. THANKS VERY MUCH; PROBLEM SOLVED!
Ricks , One thing to add ; Go to the website " Ron in Rome " ; there is a dedicated section for rail travel in Italy which will be of great help in sorting the different trains and services . Added to the expert advice you've received from Larry and Nigel ,it will further clarify things for you .
