trenitalia and reservations

Hi all,
I can't do the verify by visa, my card is not eligible. Next question. Trenitalia has issued me a booking code on my reservations. I used the POSTOCLICK BUTTON. ARE THESE ACTUAL RESERVATIONS? I see I have a few choices in how to pay. There is a box stating that I have until 0531 25/06/2009 to complete my purchase with the formalities listed in the section. Will my reservations still be good if I don't pay up before the deadline?

Nope...if you don't pay by the deadline, the "hold" on the tickets comes off. And that's probably 531 a.m. Italy time, which is only in a couple of hours. As others have said, you shouldn't have any problems getting seats once you arrive in Milan. But if you want reassurance of tickets in hand, you're only option might be raileurope.com...altho you'll pay much higher prices.

Dave,

I wouldn't bother trying to make reservations on the net, as they're very easy to arrange once you're in Italy.

The previous post indicated that you'd be travelling to Milan. Could you confirm that, as I just returned from there a few days ago and could offer some tips.

Ken and Norm, Thanks for your input. Being a Euro travel new guy, the last thing I want to to is get stuck far away from my intended destination. it is good to know the trains run frequently.

Ken, we will be flying into Malpensa airport and have already secured coach tickets to Milan Station. If there is time, we will put our bags in a locker and wander around the local area while waiting for our train. Are the train station lockers secure?
