trenitalia and italo advance purchase window

Hello All,

When do the advance purchase (online) ticket sales start for the last week of July 2026? Trenitalia doesn't have tickets available and Italo says tickets aren't available to be purchased now. I don't see a strike planned for this time and am trying to get my family from Rome to Venice on 7/28. I am trying to purchase tickets and get logistics out of the way for our trip. Thank you in advance!

Still too early, most likely. Check again in a few weeks. While freccia tickets are usually available 3-4 months out or more, scheduling may be affected by the mid June timetable updates.

From July 26 to July 30 traffic on the high speed line will be suspended because of planned works in Florence on the Ponte al Pino bridge: https://i.postimg.cc/sf6sTJgc/Immagine-2026-03-23-225945.jpg

Florence is halfway between Rome and Venice/Milan.

That's the reason you can get tickets of trains running before the 26th and after the 30th. The warning on trenitalia.com reads "temporarily not available", it has nothing to do with the timetable change that will happen on June 14.

Just wait, in the worst case you'll have to take a Trenitalia substitute bus between Florence Campo di Marte and Florence Rifredi stations. They did the same in January and no tourists were harmed during the trip. But they could re-route some trains going north on the slow line and you will avoid the bus trip.

ps No union would dream of calling a strike 4 months in advance. Who would ever join?

Thank you for that information about the work on the line! Two questions:1. How much time to the journey does the bus add?
2. I would surmise that this effects the italo trains too since they likely run on the same tracks—is this correct?

That would be correct.

As far as how much time it adds, I would guess at least a half hour. if not more. Everybody gets off the train and loads on to buses, then the buses go around the construction, then everybody gets off the buses (with all their luggage) and boards the new train. I leave it to your imagination.

Please note that trains cannot be rerouted on the slow tracks as Ponte al Pino is over the railway triangle joining the three main stations in Florence, so all tracks are blocked between Firenze SMN and Campo di Marte and Firenze Rifredi and Campo di Marte. For a few days, Italy is divided in two. Trains run from the north to Rifredi, you have to move everybody to buses and ride them to Campo di Marte where a matching train should be ready. When the thing was done in January, some chaos was reported in spite of having hostesses to manage travellers, and on average an hour was lost. Regional trains strongly reduced and also not running between the same stations.
