How far in advance does Trenitalia.com begin selling tickets online ? I read 12 weeks somewhere, but I was searching a month ago in mid-March 2019 and it went as far as June 7, 2019. Its now mid-April and it still stops at June 7.
Thank you,

Thank you,
Tickets for high speed trains can be bought up to 6 months in advance. Right now, I can buy tickets for Rome to Milan on October 18, for 46.90 EUR. Regional tickets will not even show up on the schedule until close to June 8.
Thank you.
Yes, I can see that tickets between major cities, ie Rome to Napoli, are on sale. It is the regionals I am looking for. Are you saying regional tickets for September won't show up until June?
The regionale schedule changes will be complete by June 8. They won’t change much. There is little advantage to buying these tickets early as there is not discount. Buy day-of-travel at the station.
Where are you going to-and-from?
Standard answer is that for planning purposes, just look at a date in the next week for the same day of the week you want to travel. Schedules usually don't change much, if at all. Be like an Italian and trust that on the day you want to travel, there will be trains. A nation of 60 million manages to deal with it and they use the trains every day.
Ok, Green Bay. Thank you for your input. Helpful.
Thank you also, OR.
I bought our train tickets for Italian May travel in February. This is our first trip to Italy and I knew that booking early would give me better pricing. Recently, I checked and the same tickets are roughly twice as much per person as what I paid for two of us. I'm sure I've made some rookie mistakes but at this point, it is what it is.
If buying Regionale tickets locally, be sure to validate (time & date stamp) the tickets prior to boarding the train on the day of travel. Failure to do so can result in hefty fines which will be collected on the spot. The same applies to tickets for Bus, Metro or other public transit.
