Trenitalia

Does anyone know off hand if there is any fare benefit (i.e. price break) to purchase 'multiple journeys' vs. purchasing point to point? We plan to travel: Rome to Florence to Pisa to Cinque Terre to Venice over the course of a week or so. I can price it out both ways, but wondering if anyone knows.

I tried to make this work with some kind of train pass and it never was advantageous. Even when a 10% off was offered in January on Eurorail passes or for other occasional specials, the math was bad. The reservations fees for fast trains and travel day limitations were on the wrong side of the calc. Sometimes, Italo timing and trains are a better choice than Trenitalia. If you can buy in advance, it's all reasonable. I've already determined legs where walking up and buying for the next train is going to be our best option. Hopefully, with the phone apps, this is going to be easier
