Trekking in the Dolomites

I am planning to hike the Alta Via 2 in the Dolomites this summer and have three questions:
1) What is the best way to get to Bressanone from Milano - train or bus?
2) Is there a way to have part of my luggage transported or shipped from Bressanone to Feltre (where my trek ends) so I can continue the rest of my non-hiking travels?
3) Can I rent via ferrata gear in Bressanone and return it in Feltre? What about renting advanced climbing gear for a day to climb the Marmolada?

I would appreciate any input as it has been impossible to find answers to these questions.

Do you have the Hanry Steadman book on "Trekking Alta Via ! & 2"? It might have suggestions on luggage transport. Otherwise, you might ask your first hotel if they can arrange a transport to a hotel at the end of your hike where you can pick it up later.

Train v. bus: I don't know which is "better", but since there it a train from Milan to Bressanone, I'd use that.

For the via ferrata gear, all you need is a seat harness and slings with 2 carabiners (unless you also want a helmet). For the harness, I'd want my own rather than renting. It can't be very expensive.

I do have Steadman's book and it has no information on luggage transport. I will look into the hotel arranging that - thanks for the idea. The book does suggest renting gear on the spot because of the specific type of harness recommended. Did you do this hike yourself? I would be interested if the via ferrata can be done safely in just a seat harness. Thank you!
