My husband's family is from Trecastigni in Sicily. We would like to visit the area and wonder if there are other villages or wineries nearby Trecastigni that we might consider including in our visit there.

I can't find a Trecastigni, but there is a Trecastagni quite near the major city of Catania and even closer to Mt. Etna. There's a local train that runs at least part of the way around Mt. Etna, and you can climb the volcano (guided tour required, I think). A Sicilian recommended the nearby coastal town of Acireale to me. I didn't have time to go there, but online photos look promising.
Catania is a big, bustling city--nothing like a village--but it has an attractive historic district, an impressive cathedral, a WWII museum and a very lively food market.
Trecastagni is also relatively close to the extremely popular (therefore very touristy) and beautiful town of Taormina.
