Travestevere and RS Heart of Rome Walk

I am planning one of our 3 days in Rome and would like to spend time in Travestevere and also follow the RS recommended "Heart of Rome" walk. I am trying to figure out the most logical way to integrate these, keeping in mind that I think we would enjoy seeing the Pantheon in the morning as well as the Campo De Fiori in the morning when I understand it may be more of a market than in the evening. From those that have been there, do you have suggestions of which locations are better in the morning vs. evening? Ie; should we start at the Pantheon, Campo... then spend the day and dinner in Travestevere then return and pick up Rick's walk in the eve? Hope this makes sense! Just want to maximize our day. Thanks for any input!!!!

Danielle, I think they are worth seeing both in the morning and at nite. From Trastevere, if you cross the Ponte Sisto then vere left onto Via Giulia then go a few blocks and turn right you should hit Piazza Farnese. There's an
alley that takes you to Campo de Fiori then go N cross Victor Emannuel and angle into Piazza Navona from there follow the crowds to the Pantheon and Trevi Fountain. If you look it up on a map of Rome my directions will make more sense.

You might consider doing a morning Heart of Rome walking tour in reverse (start at Spanish Steps and end in Campo dei Fiori). From Campo dei Fiori, it's only about a 10 minute walk to the Ponte Sisto and Trastevere (see page 876 of Rick's Italy guidebook for directions). While touring Trastevere, you can decide whether to eat lunch or return for dinner. It's wise to reserve for dinner at some of Rick's recommended Trastevere restaurants (e.g. Osteria Ponte Sisto), and you could do that while they're open for lunch. Trastevere, Campo dei Fiori and Piazza Navona have a very different vibe during the evening compared to during the day, so you might find it fun to visit at both times. I almost always walk over to Piazza Navona after a dinner in Trastevere, soaking in the atmosphere along the way.

Just as you listed Panthenon, etc then late afternoon and dinner in Travestevere a stroll along the Tiber in the evening delightful day...You will be tired but you also will sleep well. Enjoy your time in Rome. My husband and I did this last September and will return this September to repeat that day..
