Travelling with syringes/needles

I am diabetic & travel with syringes as well as pin tip needles. We are travelling on Air France next week to Italy and I read on their web site last night that hypodermic needles are only allowed on board if accompanied by a prescription. Does this mean I can just cut the pharmacy label (containing my name, doctor's name, etc.) off the boxes that the needles come in & take that along? Or, do I need to get a print-out from my pharmacy...or an actual prescription from my doctor? I have flown with my needles many times in the past and was never asked for anything but I just want to make sure I'm prepared. I don't want to risk being asked for documentation & not having it. For you diabetics out there, how have you handled this in the past? Thank you in advance for your replies.

You should probably call Air France and talk with customer service to get the exact answer. Donna

My son travels with a letter from his doctor stating that he is a diabetic and needs syringes. Never had a problem.
