Travelling with a child in Rome

I am having difficulty deciding to buy or not buy the Roma Pass. We are 3 adults and 1 child (10 years old). We want to see the Christian pilgrimage sites, Colosseum, and Vatican and we are staying near Piazza Navona centrally. It seems the 48 hr Rome Pass may be best for us but do I buy one for my child? She would be free to get into the Colosseum as I understand but do I need to go through a line to get her "free" ticket if she doesn't have a Roma Pass? Also, Rome city transportation says children under 10 are free so I would need to buy tickets for her if we have Roma Passes since she is 10, not under 10?

Thank you,
N.

You don't need a romapass for the 10 year old and no, you don't wait in line to get the free ticket. You go to the special events desk to pick it up without waiting in line. For the Vatican she will get a discounted ticket, not a free entry.

Thank you both so much. We will likely try 3 adults with 48 hr Roma Passes and no transportation tickets for the child. I bought Vatican tours with one child concession.
