is anyone familiar with Montecatini Terme? If so, any suggestions for local eats?
I spent a week there. We ate at Enoteco Giovanni and it was good. We liked a little restaurant up the street from the Piazza del Popolo called La Cascina, it was our favorite. They had karaoke on the weekends, what a hoot! We had a quintessential Italian meal in Montecatini Alto but I can't remember the name of the place. Go up there for a dinner, its fun.
I liked the town a lot. Enjoy it.
Great base, we stayed here for 5 days as part of a Gate 1 deal that cost next to nothing. Can't complain! The best eats are up the hill to Montecatini Alto, take the http://www.funicolare-montecatini.it/ up for a great experience. Go at night, it's small but gorgeous and lively. We ate here, was magical. http://www.casagala.it/
Down the hill, we didn't find the restaurants quite as good or "authentic" they seem to cater to all types, but doesn't scream "Italy" to me. This place was always busy, and decent but not amazing. http://www.ristorantedalorenzo.it/
Otherwise, we ate out on day trips everyday to various spots. Florence, Cinque Terre, Sienna, Volterra etc. all easy to get to by car or train from this spot. Really central.
Thank you; grazie. Very helpful.
