My husband and I will be travelling from Rome to Sorrento by train end of October. Will we have to change trains or does it go all the way..if we have to change trains can I get all tickets at the station in Rome.thanks for any advice you can give me

You will have to change trains in Naples and get on the Circumvesuviana train.

The Circumvesuviana commuter line is a separate company from the national railway system, so those tickets are not sold in Rome. If you're traveling with Rick's Italy book, see pages 999-1000 and 1036 for notes about navigating Napoli Centrale train station.
