Travelling from Portifina Italy to Postiana Italy

We will be flying to Milan and our first destination will be Portifina. Any suggestions of a hotel and an itinerary for a few days. Our next stop will be Postiana. Any suggestions?

Do you mean Portofino to Positano or somewhere else?

Wow Nancy, that's a long way. Are you thinking of doing that in just one day? It appears that if you rent a car and drive, it would be at least 8 hours driving time, plus stops, and that assumes you don't get lost, and have no problems with the hilly, curvy roads into Positano. By any form of public transportation -- train, bus or plane -- the trip will be longer and involve various connections. Most people making this trip would likely spend some days at one, two or more stops along the way, such as Genova, Florence, Rome, or Naples. You might start by looking at Rome2rio.com.

Watch the spelling Nancy Miller, watch the spelling!

Could an Italian visiting the U.S. find directions if he wanted to go from Niu Iorch to Uascinton and then fly to Finics?

We are planning on visiting Portifino for 5 days and then travel to Postiano and stay for about 4 days. American airlines only flies in to Milan. We need to get from Milan to Portifino. Any suggestions? We have been on tours through Italy and visited many of the major cities a number of times. Postiano was one of our favorite places. Making only two stops, Portifino and Postiano.

Is it really Portifino and Postiano you are going to?

Check your spelling....Again.

Nobody in Arizona could help me and tell me how to get to Finics.

From Malpensa airport you go to Milano Centrale station. You need the Malpensa Express train to do that.
See www.malpensaexpress.it for schedules. Make sure you take the train to Milano Centrale not Milano Cadorna.
From Milano Centrale there are several trains that go to Santa Margherita Ligure, some of them require change in Genoa, some don't.
Once in Santa Margherita Ligure you can take a bus or a taxi to Portofino.
You can buy the tickets at Malpensa airport station.

From Portofino to Positano it is a very long journey. First you have to go back to Santa Margherita Ligure. There you can take a train to Naples.
You will need to change trains somewhere, depending on the time of travel.
Once in Naples you take the Circumvesuviana train to Sorrento.
Once in Sorrento you can take a bus to Positano.
An alternative is to go to Salerno by train, then take a boat to Positano. That depends on the time of the year as boats don't operate in winter or with stormy seas.

For trains schedules check www.trenitalia.com
The stations' names are:

MILANO CENTRALE
SANTA MARGHERITA LIGURE
NAPOLI CENTRALE or
SALERNO

The Circumvesuviana train is a separate company. Check schedules in www.eavsrl.it

I'd rather drive and see the countryside than do all the train change nonsense. Stop overnight along the way. That would be a great road trip.

At last the destinations have been clarified! Spelling is important.

An alternative to using the Circumvesuviana from Naples to Sorrento and then Bus or Taxi to Positano, would be to arrange a private transfer for that part of the journey (try the Monetti Taxi listed in the guidebook). The Circumvesuviana has a bit of a "reputation" for thieves and scammers, and can be intimidating for some travellers.
