Travelling from either Rome or Naples to Monte Sant'Angelo, Puglia

Hello Travel Forum,
this is my first travel post. Canadian here travelling to Italy in September. This will be our sixth trip so we are pretty familiar with the culture and we speak passable Italian. We are just wondering if anyone has any tips on the best route (or any other tips) for travel and sights to see in Monte Sant'Angelo, which will be part of our itinerary. Has anyone done this route ? Bus or is train best. Your comments are welcomed. Thank you

We have not been to Monte Sant'Angelo though we spent several days on the Gargano Peninsula and surroundings on a trip several years ago which we did all by train and bus. I had researched Monte Sant'Angelo but, primarily because of the time involved in making a trip there by public transportation, we had to bypass it. Foggia is the transportation hub and getting there by train from either Rome or Naples will be easy. According to Rome2Rio.com, it's an hour and a half by bus from Foggia to Monte Sant'Angelo or 53 minutes by train to Manfredonia and then a taxi ride to Monte Sant'Angelo. You will want to check the train and bus schedules (the above site works for that if you drill down) carefully. Sometimes there are only one or two trains or buses a day into smaller places.
