Travelling from Boston, MA to Florence Italy in mid April

I am planning to go from Boston, MA to Florence Italy. I plan to leave around 4/9 and return around 4/22. Airfares seem rather high during that time. Are there other cheaper ways to go involving flying and trains?
What are the best air carriers for this trip?

Thanks,

Beth

Hi Beth. I am seeing a fare of $765 for Boston to Milan via New York around this time. This is a very low fare and may be a temporary sale. It is an easy train ride from Milan to Florence. You could also check fares to Venice, Rome, or Pisa. All are easy trains to Florence, and places you are probably planning to visit anyway. Enjoy your trip!

Yeh, I'm actually coming up with $752 on United. Connection times in Newark are in the 3 to 5 hour range. Not ideal, but hey, nice price. Flying into Pisa is $400 more. I'd jump on that price NOW!

Trans-Atlantic flights also connect into Bologna, an easy train ride to Florence. For your return route, keep in mind the time available for the inevitable flight connection, and also try to avoid early-morning departures.
