Traveling with teenagers in Venice

Hi fellow travelers we are going to Venice in March for two days (family of four- two teen boys). Staying in an air b b in San Marco. I’m trying to keep the trip a little less museum focused but I’d like to at least look in the the basilica or the Dogges palace. I’m sure we will ride a gondola, etc. But wondering if anyone else did an interesting tour (I don’t think we have time to visit other islands like Murano) or activity that your kids/grandkids particularly liked. My boys are pretty adventurous. Maybe a food tour or something fun to throw in the time there?
Also, what’s the difference between skip the line and tours around piazza san Marco? If we just want to peek in and ride up the bell tower do we need a tour if we don’t want to stand in line?
Thanks!

Many folks here recommend Row Venice for families with kids

Eating Europe now offers food tours in Venice

Use EATWELL10 for a discount

You'll need tickets for both the Basilica and the tower if you don't want to wait in line- all ticket bought in advance are basically skip the line (the line is to buy tickets)
However you don't need a tour to get in either- you just need a ticket

Buy them here- they are time slot specific

How about Row Venice- your family would take a group rowing lesson on the back canals, about 90 minutes total, about 100 euros total. It's harder than it looks, and so much fun. Have a great trip.

I think a pair of adventurous boys would really go for Row Venice if you are OK with them being on the water.

I will echo everyone else, Row Venice!

My parents and I did it and it was a great way to "get on a gondola" and see a different side of the city!
