Traveling to SICILY for SPRING BREAK!

I am traveling with 3 girls down to Sicily for spring break... March 13 - March 21... I was wondering if it would be easier to rent a car to get around all over to different areas of Sicily or if it is easy to get from place to place on bus and train.

also if any one has recommendations on where to stay and for how many days.

Also, will there be night life?
Thank you! If you have answers to any of these questions I would love to know!

I'd definitely vote for the freedom of a car. Go where you want to go, see what you want to see, move at your own pace. If you take trains or buses, once you get to your destination, then what do you do? You're stuck and you're on foot.

I've driven all over Sicily and the only place that'll give you panic attacks is Palermo - the traffic is insane. Otherwise, the driving isn't bad at all.

If you drive, be aware most rentals are manual transmission, you have to ask specifically for automatic and you'll probably pay more. Also, might want to look into getting diesel vs. unleaded gas as it's less expensive usually. But this is Europe and things change, google gas prices in Sicily to double-check that one. You'll have a great time.
