We are spending a month in Palermo Italy from mid February to mid March . Traveling from South Florida and hoping to avoid MIA. Thoughts ,suggestions on airlines, layovers etc. Suggestions on Palermo in general
Google flights is a good tool to use to find all your options.
Miami airport is probably going to have your best flight options
Might try MCO
Use Google Flights
Do you know where you are staying?
From Orlando, Lufthansa has a connection of 3 hours, 40 minutes in Frankfurt, then onwards to Palermo.
From Tampa/St. Pete, Swiss Air has a shorter connection in Zurich, then onwards to Palermo. Flights starting in Tampa appear cheaper than Orlando flights.
Although you want to avoid Miami (assuming your “MIA”doesn’t mean “Missing in Action” -lol), it has an Edelweiss Air flight to Zurich, layover less than 2 hours, followed by a Swiss Air flight to Palermo.
Cannot blame you for wanting to avoid MIA.
A pretty convoluted idea is to fly to NYC from PBI and then get an ITA or other flight to Palermo,.I know people who do this just to avoid MIA but it sounds....a little wacky.
Look at Lufthansa.....
Check business class Iberia to Madrid MAD, then random discount airline to Palermo PMO
Check MIA - FCO on American or ITA
Check ATL - FCO
Check MCO- MAD Iberia business class, then random discount airline to PMO
