Traveling to Italy with Teens

Hello all! We are planning a trip to Italy this Summer, likely in June. Need some help with where to go. We plan to stay about 2 weeks and would prefer to spend a week in one area and the other week in another area. Don’t want to do a lot of dragging luggage around! Our daughter will be 18 and our son 16. We would love to have activities planned. Maybe some biking, going to the beach... would love to visit an olive farm and see how olive oil is made. Are there places that you can go as a family and make pasta? Hoping to stay in a home or apt maybe through airbnb? I’ve read through a lot of the archives...
Any and all tips welcome!

Starts to sound like Tuscany. Or Umbria.

Have you looked around there at all?

Yes, we are looking at Tuscany right now. Specifically Cortona. My son really wants to be near a beach...not sure what beaches are like in this area or what kind of drive we would have. Will check out Umbria.

Thanks!

When you said 'biking', it put me in mind of Lucca, a lovely town in Tuscany where you can rent bikes and ride around on top of the city walls.

Given the mixture of what you want to do and like, plus the beach, you might want to find an agriturismo for a farm stay. Many have apartments, animals, and produce olive oil or wine. Many have swimming pools that might be better than the beach. The beach in Tuscany is rather far from where most travelers spend their time, I.e., the hill towns and Florence. Umbria is land locked but fabulous. (Italian beaches are a different experience than in North America, BTW. )

Take a look at https://www.agriturismo.it/en/ , representing properties allover Italy.

For your second week maybe you’d enjoy the mountains. Here is a great site for farm stays in the Dolomites: https://www.redrooster.it/en/.
