We are intending to spend two weeks in Italy, 7 days in a friends villa in Tuscany and then 7 days on the Amalfi coast. I am thinking we should fly into naples but don't know the best way to get to tuscany from there and then tuscany to Amalfi. We can stay in the town of amalfi or positano. Any suggestions...
Where are you headed first? The Amalfi Coast or Tuscany? 7 nites on the Amalfi Coast would be too long for this time of year and Sorrento though not technically on the AC would be a better base. Positano would be basically shut down. It's their rainy season.
What do you want to do in this area?
would October be better? We originally planned October but our friends house isn't available until after November 10th. I was concerned about the weather. We don't have to stay there, we can reschedule for October if the weather is better. We have 2 weeks to travel in Italy, renting a car is not an option. We are elderly and at this point with an elderly doggy that can only be away from us for 2 weeks, we want to see as much as we possibly can in case returning "someday" isn't an option. We are basically local type travelers. We don't go into the touristy stuff. My family is from Sicily and Calabria. I wanted to get calabria in this trip. My husband has been to Venice and Rome. So he's looking at Tuscany, Pisa, Naples and Amalfi coast. He wants me to see Venice and Rome but I just don't know how to fit it in. I am very ignorant on Tuscany. I don't know what we want to see there.
