traveling to Cinque Terre

My husband and I will be vacationing in the Cinque Terre in mid April. He traveling from Ireland, myself from the states. Where is the best place to meet - Milan, Pisa, Genoa, Florence? Thanks for the help.

Our interest is to fly into the same airport, possibly exploring that city for a day or two, than on to the CT. Is the trip from Ireland easier into any of afore mention cities?

You should fly into Milan. CT is a short train ride away (about 3 hours give or take). You can explore Milan the day you arrive and then head to the CT. There are smaller airports that are closer to CT such as Pisa or Genoa that your husband could fly into but it will be more difficult and expensive you to fly into those airports. Meet in Milan it the closest big airport.

I agree with Scott--the Milan airport is hard to get lost in, and whoever is first can hang outside of the baggage area. Met my wife there two years' ago and had no problem connecting, plus you can go straight to the train station and make your connection to the CT.

Oh-oh--just had a thought-if you are coming from the US and he is flying Ryan, you are looking at 2 different airports!

Therese,

My suggestion would also be Milan, however I have no information on what flights are available for both of you.

You could either meet at MXP or perhaps at Milano Centrale, as that's where the Shuttle drops passengers from the airport. From there you could go to your Hotel in Milan (if you want to spend a few days there) OR board your train to the C.T.

Happy travels!

Thank you everyone for your replies! It appears that Milan makes the most sense. We are looking forward to our trip! I will be scouring the helpline for more info about Milan. We have not stayed there - only traveled through. I am thinking we might stay for a day or two and explore while I get over a little jet lag.
