Trying to book from USA to Pisa italy because we want to see the Leaning Tower before taking the train to Cinque Terra
many of the shorter flights have only 1 hour connection in Munich to Pisa and going from Lufthansa to Air Dolomiti.
Is that enough time? and do we need to go through immigration or customs?
One hour is not enough time if you are arriving in Munich from the US. You would go through immigration in Munich and customs in Pisa, IF it is single ticket with a connection in Munich. However, if you are doing two separate tickets, then it is customs in Munich also and new check in and security for Pisa. If that is the situation then an hour is totally out of the question -- you would need something closer to three hours. If you are using a single ticket connecting in Munich and miss the next leg to Pisa, the airline would be obligated to put you on the next available flight to Pisa. NOT so with two separate tickets. The second ticket is worthless if you miss the plane.
Can you see Pisa after the Cinque Terre?
Thanks for the information. All the decent priced flights are at 10am which leaves no time to see Pisa on the way back.
Cheers!
Is this your complete itinerary? If not, it would help us to have the full travel itinerary, making it easier to make suggestions.
A 1 hr. Munich transfer LH to the Air Dolomiti subsidiary is no problem (book 1 ticket thru LH as recommended above). We've done it many times. Inbound from US is usually early and there's no added security check and passport control is efficient.
Don't have flights yet, but have a place to stay in Cinque Terra and will be there for 7 days. Trying to get there from the East Coast of the USA.
Have you thought about visiting Pisa on one of your days in the Cinque Terre? From Monterosso there are regular trains that go to Pisa and only takes 1:10 to get there. You could see Pisa and easiy come back the same day
