Hi there-
I will be in Capri April 2nd - 4th, and I am wondering if anyone can recommend a b&b there for one night. I don't mind if it's dead during that season, as I am going for the peace and the views. Please let me know if you have any thoughts on this.
Thank you!
Kirsten
i am not sure how busy capri is in april, we were there in may and the small buses they have to get around the island and most places we visited were full of tourists, so you might have more peace and see more views. we enjoyed the views from the chairlift at anacapri and of course the views from villa san michele.
have a great time
I do not think Capri will be empty at that time as it is the week just after Easter.
I do not know about hotels and b&b in Capri as when I was there, we came with a sailing boat and slept in.
You will love it.
I remember of the small little buses and a marvelous little wooden church all painted in Anacapri.
When visited Capri in early April several years ago, and it was far from dead. In fact, I don't think I would have wanted one more person on the island. It was quite brisk with day tourists. The only quiet and peaceful times were morning/evenings, when the day visitors went back to the mainland.
Be sure to go to Anacapri (the top of the island) as it offers lovely views. It's also great fun to have a local drive you around the island in a convertible taxi (some of the roads are very narrow and offer just an inch or two to spare when vehicles pass one another, so nice to have an experienced local driving). Anacapri was less crowded than the lower part of the island.
We stayed at a hotel, so I have no b&b experience there, but possibly www.tripadvisor.com would have some recommendations, if you haven't checked there.
I don't have a B&B reco either (we stayed in a hotel) but as side note on the busy-ness, it's sort of like the Cinque Terre in that it's really nice in the early mornings before the ferries start to arrive, and in evenings after they depart. You can also avoid the worst of the crowds in the piazzas and shopping streets by hiking to areas that fewer of them go. You'll get those great views from some of those places too.
No, I don't imagine it'll be dead right after Easter. You might take a look at Anacapri as while it's busy during peak midday-afternoon hours, it'll be less so than Capri at other times. We went up early one morning and had a couple of blissfully uncrowded hours to wander around. You can also hike up/down Mt Solaro, and up to Villa Jovis from Capri.
