I will be in Sorrento traveling Amalfi Coast. After, I need to go to Bari. Should I go from Sorrento to Naples to Rome and then Bari? Is there another more direct route via train? Thanks.

According to the Trenitalia train schedule, the best routing seems to originate in Naples. Thus, you can take the Circumvesuviana train to Naples Centrale. Here's a LINK to a sample schedule a few days from now. Note that any super ecconomy fares are sold out (esaurita). The 15:10 run seems to be really popular. I've looked at late September and the economy rates are gone.
