traveling to Amalfi Coast in March

I know March is off season, but we are looking to go to the Amalfi Coast and wondering if there are enough places open and if ferries travel to Naples, Sorrento, Positano, Ravello and Capri. Will we be able to get tours to see Blue Grotto, Grotta Bianca, etc. I'm also seeing that restaurants, hotels are often closed until Easter. I'm wondering if it's worth going in March.

Most ferries won’t be running til April

Ferry from Naples and Sorrento to Capri should be available but as always - weather dependent

I was there in November 2024 and off season. AC was wonderful. Took the ferry from Naples to Ischia and Procida. Took bus from Amalfi to Ravello and Positano. Took train from Naples to Sorrento. Naples to Capri ferry ran but Blue Grotto closes at the end of Oct. I stayed at Hotel Fortuna in Amalfi and it was fabulous and the most incredible breakfast buffet, nicest staff and great room overlooking the bay.

directferries.com is essential to see what ferry lines go where. Book with that company directly.

Will we be able to get tours to see Blue Grotto, Grotta Bianca, etc.

I think accessibility to either (and I don't know how many tours actually enter Grotta Blanca) will be a crapshoot in March, and chances less rather than more. This page of the Capri tourism website states this about the Blue Grotto:

https://www.capri.com/en/e/la-grotta-azzurra#:~:text=Tiberius'%20Sacred%20Santuary%3A%20Capri's%20Blue%20Grotto.&text=During%20the%20winter%20season%20from,low%20mouth%20of%20the%20cave.

"In case of mild weather, the Blue Grotto is open during the winter months. That said, the grotto is often closed between November and the beginning of March due to adverse weather conditions. If you are visiting during the winter, you can check up-to-date closures at the Marina Grande port by asking at the ticket windows for Laser Capri (Pier 21) or Motoscafisti di Capri (Pier 0), or by calling the Motoscafisti di Capri pier at 081 8375646 after 9 am. If both ticket offices are closed and no one answers the telephone, the grotto is closed."

But there are still other scenic and interesting places to see on the island, assuming you don't have a lot of mobility limitations.

We were just in Italy last month and drove to Positano and Sorrento for the day. High of 60 F and plenty of sunshine. It was wonderful having no traffic at all along the coastal road! Some places in Positano were closed for the season but plenty were open. Sorrento had lots of people but they appeared to be local folks out for a festive Sunday evening (Epiphany Eve). I think you’ll have a great time! Good luck!
