Hi everyone. Planning to travel from Florence to Siena for a few days then continue to Sorrento. Any suggestions? I was thinking about traveling back to Florence and taking the train from Florence to Sorrento.
That is probably the fastest option, but it will be a long day regardless.
Siena to Florence by bus or train, then Florence to Naples by high speed FrecciaRossa train (3h), finally commuter Circumvesuviana train from Naples to Sorrento (over one hour).
There is also the option of taking a bus to Rome Tiburtina. Then train from Tiburtina to Naples as above. I think it will be a bit longer than the first option.
Siena and Sorrento are always on my must-do list. Getting from one to the other isn't difficult, it's just long. What I've done for the past dozen years or so: take the bus from Siena to Florence, take the Freccia to Naples (via Rome but no change of train). From there you have the choice of taking the slow train to Sorrento, or, my favorite, taking the ferry across the Bay of Naples. I find the ferry to be relaxing, but that's a personal choice.
Thank you for your suggestions.
