traveling from zurich to cinque terra

We plan to drive from Zurich to Cinque Terra with a few days in between to stop and see places. Originally going to go to Zermatt, but ends up just being too much driving. Any suggestions of what to see or where to stop on way to Cinque Terra?

Just did this in April...but by train. Flew into Zurich and on the way to CT stopped in Cannobio (Lake Maggiorie) Bologna, Verona, Lucca and Siena.
