traveling from Sorrento to Rome

In May I will be traveling from Sorrento through Rome and then further north. The most common way is by train from Sorrento to Naples, connecting to Rome, then generally connecting to points north. But i have seen reference to a bus directly from Sorrento to Rome, eliminating one connection and maybe some time. But i have not seen anything recent about this, or any details. Have any of you done this in the past year or so? Or know about it? If such a bus exists, where does it drop you in Rome, and is that very near Termini, Tiburtina, or another main railroad station? Thanks!

Train is a better option, especially considering the sector between Napolia and Roma is a high-speed line with trains zipping at up to 260 km/h.

Larry, www.marozzivt.it shows one run a day from Sorrento to the bus station next to the Roma-Tiburtina train station. 3hrs45min journey. Bus departs at 06:00. There may be a second run during the summer months. http://www.curreriviaggi.it/inglese/E_index.html also has a similar bus run but I don't think it runs yearound. The website message says that the Sorrento/Rome bus is not running at this time.

Larry,

Although it involves one change at Napoli Centrale, using the train will provide much more flexibility in terms of departure times. The slowest part of that trip will be the Circumvesuviana from Sorrento to Naples, but that's only about an hour. From Naples to Rome you'll be on the high speed Freccia train which is fast and comfortable, and you'll arrive at Roma Termini.
