Traveling from Sorrento to Milan airport.

Hi everyone
My wife and I will be traveling to Italy next October. We have a round-trip flight from Arizona to Milan. We'll be visiting Milan, Venice, Florence, Rome and Sorrento. We are planning to travel from Sorrento to Milan the day before our flight back to the US. Has anyone traveled from Sorrento to Milan in one day, and what would be the best way to do this?
Thank you in advance for your suggestions.

Our flight will depart at 0700 am

I would take the Campania Express train to Naples, then a Freccia hi speed train to Milan, then the Malpensa Express train to Malpensa and check into the Sheraton Malpensa right in the airport for the next day's flight.

Currently that would be leaving Sorrento at 10:20 am and arriving at Malpensa at 6:04 pm.

Train is best, easy and really not that long.

You will have to get to Napoli Centrale- from there lots of direct fast trains. Both Trenitalia and ItaloTreno.
About a 4.5 hr journey, take a picnic.

Do you have the train links?

Since your departure is at 7 am I'd want to be at the airport night before. From Milano Centrale transfer to Malpensa. Adds about an hour to trip.
I am sure there are MXP hotel recommendations here on forum- do a search.

We have done the journey in the opposite direction.
Question- how are you getting to Sorrento?
Are you aware of the poor infrastructure south of Naples? The congestion is legendary, traffic awful, and the regional train between Naples and Sorrento comparable to riding a NYC subway. There is no fast nor efficient mode of travel.
We used Aldo Limos for transportation between Naples and Sorrento, and Sorrento to Rome. They were professional, prompt, and dependable, but expensive.
The trains from Naples to Milan are comfortable, generally on time, and can be booked in advance.
So it depends on whether you're looking for budget or comfortable options.
In any case, have a great trip!
