Traveling from Rome to Venice or Montepulciano then Florence

We are planning 10 nights in Italy. We are flying into Rome and home from Florence. The first three nights are in Rome the last three in Florence. We have four nights for Venice and Montepulciano. What would be the most efficient travel arrangements? Three days in Montepulciano and a day trip to Venice from Florence? Two nights in Montepulciano drive to Venice spend 2 nights? Thanks.

I'm assuming you bought your airline tickets already.
If so, get Venice out of the way and go there first from Rome for 2 nights
Then go to Florence and decide how to split that time with Montepulciano

You need to put a few pins in a map to understand your logistics. Are your flights reserved? If not, it makes more sense and convenience to fly into Venice and home from Rome. If you are locked into returning from Florence then I would drop Venice. Venice is a major trip from Florence and with your limited time hardly worth it. From Florence you need at best about five hours (RT) on the train for a day trip to Venice. Save Venice for another trip. The train especially if you can take advantage of the Super Econ tickets is your best bet.
