Four of us need to travel from the Coloseum area to the Leonardo da Vinci airport. How long of a trip is this and what price will we pay by using either 1) a cab or 2) bus?

Train will cost 11 euro pp plus any cost in getting to Termini Station. In 2008 it cost us about 12 euro taxi fare for the 2 of us from the Colosseum end of Via Cavour to Termini.
There is a fixed price public taxi fare to the airport, it was 40 euro but seem to remember some mention of a price rise for 2010 but will not swear to it! With luggage you may need to hire two taxis.
Ron-in-Rome has written about a new direct bus service from Oct 2009. No personal experience of this.

Edit - forgot to say that you could catch the Metro from the Colosseum stop to Termini for very litte cost but have not done this.
