I am planning a trip to Venice from 20-24 April. This is Easter weekend, and I am wondering if sights and shops will be closed on Friday and Saturday before Easter?

I was in Venice Easter weekend in 2008 and I don't remember anything being closed. We visited all of the tourist sites prior to Sunday. We even took the train to Verona on Easter Sunday. I remember Venice seemed less crowded than previous visits too but Easter was in March that year so that may be why. Easter also seemed to not be as big of a holiday as in most other cities in Italy and Catholic Europe.
