I was going to plan a trip to Sicily Sept or Oct of 2025 and then I heard about the Jubilee. Should I wait until 2026 to go.
I’m afraid prices will be higher and more than usual people in 2025.
It would be hard for me to even think about delaying a trip to Italy - even during the Jubilee year. A couple questions for you: have you been to Italy before? How about Sicily? Where in Sicily are you planning to stay?
For me, I enjoy planning my trip. And that would include staying in hotels or apartments that I've enjoyed in the past. Restaurants also. Repeat trips can also mean being recognized and hopefully, remembered fondly. It has meant a dozen years in the same hotel with the rate never rising. It meant being treated like family at my dining favorites in Venice, Rome, Ortigia, Siena and others. If you have good memories from past visit - reach out and remind them! I was in Italy the entire month of April this year. Got remembered, got 'family' treatment at hotels and apartments and restaurants.
Most importantly, get your planning started soon. For new locations, research prices for places to stay for the dates you would like. But also for dates in the (no longer existing) off season. Find something that catches your imagination? Book it, with free cancellation. Yes, there will be lots of extra tourists. The pandemic has made people wonder what they are waiting for - travel now! That might mean making advance timed-entry reservations for some museums etc. The tourists will still be there but they won't be in your way . . . too much.
