Travel to Sicily

Any tips for what not to miss on a trip to Sicily? Any thoughts on the sea caves?

It depends on what you like to see and do. Some people like churches, temples, or beaches, while others don’t.

There are popular destinations such as Palermo, Trapani, Erice, Segesta, Agrigento, Selinunte, Ortigia, Noto, Ragusa, Taormina, etc., but only you know your likes.

Agree - it does depend on what you enjoy. I'm Sicilian so I love everything.

I'd suggest visiting Palermo - As well as hitting the highlights there, go to the No Mafia Memorial Museum in historic Palazzo Guili on Via Vittorio Emanuele while you are walking around that beautiful area.

Just like all regions in Italy, you'll experience and enjoy a variety of Sicilian food. Eat caponata, cannoli, cassata, pasta con sarde, sfincione, and pizza. You'll find each town/village/city will have variations. If you are wanting a beach - Taormina or Cefalu.

For Greek archeological sites - I love Agrigento - a great place to have a guide with you. Siracusa is also a not-to-miss site.

Visit Etna! Take the gondola up and experience La Mamma Etna!

Bronte is the place for pistachio tasting and wines!

Happy to answer more questions.

Anything to be aware of if traveling in Sicily during Holy Week? Will restaurants and tourist attractions still be open particularly on Maundy Thursday and Good Friday.
