Ciao! We will be traveling to Puglia region following our RS tour of Sicily. We will be renting a car at Catania airport and then returning car to Naples airport. Any tips for car rental and taking it on the ferry from Messina to Villa San Giovanni then on to Puglia?

How long do you have for the Puglia stay?
Unless you are headed for Tropea or somewhere else in Calabria, you might look into flying from Catania to Bari and renting the car there. Make sure to include Matera in your plans--minimum two nights.

I’ve driven along the sole of the boot of Italy some years ago, and although the driving was easy, it wasn’t very interesting, and although this was at the beginning May, Calabria was pretty much closed, the on,y really interesting place was Reggio di Calabria, which has an excellent museum featuring the Warriors of Rieti, two huge bronze statues found just off the coast, and which as amazing. Apart from Reggio, I’d also advise flying to Bari and spending your time there.
