We will be traveling from Matera (Ferrandina- Scalo station) to Paestum by train. We have two options - 1) train to Battipaglia then onward to Paestum; or 2) Train to Salerno and onward to Paestum. It appears we will have about an hour layover in either place. Anyone have recommendations? We could get off in Battipaglia and try to locate a taxi to Paestum. We don't need a car as we will be traveling onward to Rome from here.

I would do the second option and wait for the train, but that's my budget half talking. If a taxi is readily available you'd save a bit of time. Just depends on whether time or money is more important at that point!

I negotiated a reduced rate with taxi for set amount of time. I had schedule to meet and back on the ferry to Positano. The train would be easy and much cheaper. Paestum was a top destination for me and few visitors it also has wonderful museum. enjoy
