We (2 couples) are leaving Tuscany (Sienna area) in late May and heading up to Lake Garda. We’ve book a fabulous place in Torbole ( in the northern tip of the Lake), although have to book a one night stay somewhere in between due to the availability of the house in Torbole. After Torbole we are heading to Verona or Padua, as a home base for 2-3 more days to visit Venice then head home. Our questions are:
- what might be the best place to stop in between Tuscany and Torbole?
- we would like to utilize the ferry, trains etc once in the Lake area, and get rid of the rental car. Is that a good plan since there is a ferry and train station in Peschiera to get up North and to Verona/Padua? If so, would Peschiera be a good spot to stay one night before heading North?
- is the ferry from Peschiera to Torbole too long and a taxi might be a better option or keep the car and get rid of there?
- any suggestions on what to do in Torbole, where to eat, etc?
- once in Verona or Padua....any suggestions what to do there except for a day trip to Venice?
Thank you for any recommendations or suggestions?
