Can we take a train from Venice to the town of Laglio in the Lake Como District?
Then need to fly to Paris. Suggestions for best options, please. Trying to avoid a car rental.
Short time in Paris so need to fly from somewhere around Lake Como. Do we need to take train to Milan to do this?

No train in Laglio.
These are the options:
Train from Venice to Milan, then train from Milan to Como.
Once in Como you can do the following:
1. Take a bus to Laglio
2. Take a boat to Laglio
3. Call George Clooney and see if he can come and pick you up at the Como station. He lives in Laglio part of the year, however the City 2 days ago just passed an ordnance prohibiting loitering and parking near his villa, therefore trying to be a paparazzo might cost you 500 euro in fines. Apparently they are getting ready to celebrate his birthday there in May.

For flights from Linate, Como S. Giovanni-Milano Centrale- Milano Linate. 1H16m.
For Malpensa, Change @ Centrale to Malapensa express. http://www.malpensaexpress.it/en/malpensa-express/timetable.aspx
Edit: Easyjet has budget flights from Linate.

The connection from Milano Centrale train station to Milano Linate airport is by StarFly bus, from the east side of the station at Piazza Luigi di Savoia (takes 30 minutes and runs every 30 minutes, €5).
