I am flying into Rome. Is it best to travel to Sorento spend the night, visit Amafi coast for 2 days travel to Venice stay two days, travel to Florence stay two days return to Rome for two days before returning home. I have 9’days. Is it doable?
The Amalfi Coast is in off season in November, a lot will be closed, including hotels. And it is so much an outdoor place, if you hit bad weather it would be terribly disappointing. The other cities have many museums and churches, perfect for cooler, wetter, weather.
With your limited time, I would skip the AC and save it for another trip. With what I am guessing is really 8 nights, you’ll be moving rather briskly just to see Venice, Florence and Rome, but go immediately to either Florence or Venice upon arrival in Rome, then the other, and end in Rome.
Wise words from Laurel and I'll echo the same: skip Sorrento and concentrate what little time you have on Rome, Florence and Venice.
Shall I make up the trifecta and also echo L's advice? Save the AC for another trip.
How many nights will you sleep in IT? What time does your flight arrive in Rome? The reason I ask is because there’s a direct train from Rome’s airport Fiumicino train station to Naples (Napoli Centrale) station departing the airport at 9:38a and arriving in Naples at 11:33: https://www.trenitalia.com/en.html. The problem with the Amalfi Coast though is there won’t be many ferries running so it will be harder to get around. Furthermore, it would be nice to see the coast from both land and sea.
I agree with Laurel to save Rome for the end of your trip. There is also a direct train from the Fiumicino station to Florence (Firenze SM Novella) station departing the airport at 1:53p arriving in Florence at 4:11p. You need a minimum of three nights for Florence and you need to buy tickets for the Uffizi Gallery two months out.
Rome deserves three nights and if you add Vatican City make it four.
