Travel To/From Capri

We are 4 adults traveling to Capri from Sorrento and then on to Naples. We have been advised that we should make reservations for the hydrofoil/ferry to/from Capri. Is there a preference for hydrofoil/ferry? And when I searched, I find several websites to make the reservations. Is there an "official" website? I want to make sure we are using a reputable website.

Thank you!

They sell ferry-specific tickets with reserved seats and so on? Otherwise you are not actually making a reservation, you are simply paying in advance a middle man to avoid the long lines at the counter on the day of travel.

https://www.capri.net/en/ferry-schedule is a consolidator site, you can see the schedules of all companies at a glance and learn their names. You can use the same site to buy your tickets (and pay more), or you can google the name of each ferry company.

Alilauro https://www.alilaurogruson.com/Timetables-and-Rates is the company we sailed with and it has a large, fast boat to Capri. We actually booked though through Ferry Hopper in advance and glad we did because from our observations once we were there, the ferry companies are more interested in selling you a packaged tour than just the tickets. Ferry Hopper is a reseller but at least it was just for the ride over and back. We were emailed a voucher which we showed at the Alilauro ticket booth for our tickets.
