Travel to Colle di Val d'Elsa from Malpensa airport in Milan

Can someone verify this would be correct and possibly suggest better solutions if this doesn't work? Also if you can also provide specific directions on how to get from the train station to the bus depot, that would be so helpful. Many thanks!

  1. From Malpensa airport to Milano Centrale, we would take the Milano Express
  2. From Milano Centrale, we would either a) take the fast train to Firenze Santa Maria Novella, then bus (what bus) to Colle di Val d'Elsa or b) take the fast train to Poggibonsi-S.Gimignano, then bus to Colle di Val d'Elsa?

No fast trains to Poggibonsi. You take the train to Florence, as you arrive you head to the head of your train and exit the station from the door on the right of the gallery. Down the stairs, you cross the tram tracks and go left; the bus station to the whole Siena and Chianti area is in via S. Caterina da Siena, one minute walking. You want to board a bus direction Siena - not the fast no-stop bus, but the one making two stops only in Poggibonsi and Colle.

Below is the timetable for the buses from Firenze to Siena (via Poggibonsi and Colle VE):

Go to table 131O/R

You could potentially take the train from Florence SMN to Poggibonsi (not a fast train, but a regional commuter) and then catch the same bus when it stops at Poggibonsi for the last leg to Colle (no rail in Colle), however it's faster if you take the bus directly from the start in Florence.

As the previous poster explains, the bus station is near the Florence SMN train station next to the Bar Deanna. If you get lost inside the station ask for the BAR DEANNA (pronounce: DAY-ANNA). That is the landmark name that we Florentines use to designate that side of the train station piazza (that bar has been there for ever, if one day they close it or change name all Florentines won't know how to give directions in that area anymore)

Thank you so much for your help. My husband and I will be traveling with my mother-in-law and wanted to make sure we knew what we are doing so that she doesn't stress. Milione de grazie!
