travel to castel gandolfo

I want to take a bus from Rome to Castel Gandolfo on Sunday, July 14. As the bus schedule sight is in Italian, I am not sure I am reading it right. It looks like there are no early buses to be there before noon to catch the Angelus by the pope. Does anyone know where I can get the scedule in English or have any info for me.

Take the train from Roma Termini to Castel Gandolfo (train to Albano Laziale). There is at least a Regional train every hour. It's a 40-45 min ride. The first one is early in the morning. The only disadvantage of the train is that from the station you need to go uphill to get to the Papal palace. But maybe you can take a bus or taxi. For a bus from Rome you would need to go all the way to the Anagnina metro station to catch the bus and that's not frequent.

Thanks Roberto, That is the problem...the long walk. From what I have found out, taxis are scarce and no buses from the train. But, if the bus from Rome is infrequent, that is a problem, too. Does anyone know how I can obtain a bus schedule?

Check with the Vatican website, I read that Pope Francis will be staying in Rome all summer to empathize with the Italians unable to take a holiday this year.

Donna, Pope Francis will go to Castel Gandolfo only on July 14 to recite the Angelus with the townspeople and pilgrims. That's why Nancy is trying to find a way to get there on that particular day, as stated in her post. http://ncronline.org/news/vatican/pope-francis-decides-not-spend-summer-castel-gandolfo Nancy, if I'm reading the schedule correctly at the following link, it appears there is a bus at 06:55 from Anagnina (last stop on Metro Line A) to Castel Gandolfo. The next one seems to be at 11:10, which might be too late. ( I'm having trouble pasting the full schedule link in here, but you can find it under 'Capolinea di Roma' Anagnina Metro A at: ) http://www.cotralspa.it/scarica_orari.asp The problem is, according to the following return schedule, there doesn't appear to be a bus back from Castel Gandolfo to Anagnina after 11:30, so that might not work, if the event with the Pope ends too close to that time. http://www.cotralspa.it/PDF_Orari_Comune/Castel_Gandolfo.pdf You might have better luck trying to find a tour bus that would take you there and back. And maybe Roberto could confirm the bus times - there are some footnotes on the above schedules I'm not entirely sure about.
