Travel to and from Positano

How realistic is it to catch a taxi from Positano on a Tuesday morning in order to make a 9 AM flight at the Naples airport?

How many of you will have to wake up at 5am or so? I think it will cost more to take the taxi than to return to Napoli the night before your flight and get a room near the train station, but I could be wrong.

If you pre-book your taxi and leave no later that 6:00 am.
It is possible. Taxi will cost you 115 euro.

Better to stay overnight in Naples and enjoy your last day (or partial day) there, IMHO.

Thanks for all the help. There are 2 of us traveling, two women, mid 50's. We are coming from Rome on Sunday late afternoon and have 2 nights booked at Hotel Pupetto in Positano. Our flight would leave from Naples on Tuesday morning at 9 AM (to Nice...only direct flight that day). We could stay in Positano our first night and then go to Naples the 2nd night, although it would encroach on a full day in and around Positano. Any suggestions for a hotel near the airport in Naples?
Wondering if it would be better to stay in Naples both nights and take a private car tour of Positano and surrounding areas instead of going back and forth from Positano. I'm open to ideas. Thanks!

My husband and I were just in Positano last week. so I know you're in for a real treat. Personally, I would not take a chance at missing my flight and would stay both nights in Naples rather than spending all that money on a taxi and all the back and forth. There is loads of security at the airports now, so you want to allow plenty of time. Take a private tour, allow time for strolling the streets, and enjoy a good lunch or snack from one of the roadside stands. Best wishes! Dawn

Hi,

I have the same issue as you Jane. We also have an early flight from Napoli to Gatwick at 905am on 5/26 and we will just stay in Napoli the night before to be on the safe side :)

You don't need to stay near the airport because the airport is very close to the city center. Better to stay in the city center. Look at www.booking.com for hotel ideas - I personally really liked the Mergellina, Chiaia, and Vomero Districts of the city. It depends if you want to stay by the waterfront, in a residential area on the hill, or somewhere in the thick of things steps away from the main attractions.
