Travel Time

Hello fellow travelers,
Does anyone happen to know the travel time between Atlanta and Pisa on a direct flight/nonstop flight. In other words, how long is the plane ride.
Thank you!

If it is a nonstop, then figure about 10 or 11 hours.

Thank you, that's what I was thinking. We have a first time traveler that will be going us and she's very concerned about the length of time on the plane, whereas the rest of us want the shortest total travel time. Thanks again

I did a quick check on Google Flights and Kayak.com for a random week in April 2019 for flights from Atlanta to Pisa. There are no non-stop flights between those two cities, at least not on those two search engines. A direct flight is not the same as non-stop flight. A direct flight has a stop to allow others to leave and board, but you just stay on the plane to travel directly to your destination. There's a Delta flight from Atlanta to Rome (9 hours & 25 minutes), 3.5 hour layover in Rome, then a 1 hour flight from Rome to Pisa. That's just an example. When you search for flights, it will tell you how long each section of the flight will be. Most flights from Atlanta to Pisa will have two stops. Hope this helps.

Gina,

As the previous reply mentioned, you may not be able to find any direct ATL - PSA flights. I did a brief check on Hipmunk (which searches numerous sources), and flights ranged from 13H:30M to over 37 hours! You could also check Skyscanner. Some flights to Pisa are seasonal so direct flights may not be available year-round.

Flight times from JFK are shorter. I found a few flights there at ~10H:45M, with one short layover in London. Those flights are with British Airways and appear to arrive at LGW which might be a bit easier for changing planes.

You might consider flying into Rome and then taking a train to Pisa. Saves hanging around at Rome airport.
Rome2Rio gives the train time as a little over two hours.

There are no non stop flights from the US to Pisa.
Delta used to have a seasonal from JFK to PSA but it was discontinued a couple of years ago.
If you want to fly to Pisa from ATL with Delta you need a layover in Paris or Rome.

Thank you all so much! Delta still offers seasonal flights from ATL to Pisa however the 2019 schedule does not come out until end of September/early October. We are ending in Porto Venere and Pisa would be the closest as we'll still have to train then bus. If Delta changes seasonal plans then we will have to fly into Rome.
Thanks again, I really appreciate your research.

No. There are currently no direct non stop flights connecting Atlanta to Pisa (and viceversa). You can see the entire summer timetable below.

Also I have read nothing about Delta starting such service in 2019. If they did, they would probably resume the service to JFK, not to ATL.

Many of the travelers on that Delta flight from PSA to JFK used to be local Tuscan visitors to NYC and to the US. But who would want to go to Atlanta from Tuscany? Are all the residents of Tuscany abandoning Chianti and developing an addiction to Coca Cola?
